GG&G Sling Attachment

Thoughts and Impressions about the GG&G Sling Attachment Point: Most would say that a sling attachment point is a simple piece of equipment. While this is mostly true, this one single piece can prove to be as important as a single item on your weapon such as the Firing Pin or even the ammunition. If this item should fail when needed you could be left high and dry. |
With quality as always a top
concern, I once again counted on GG&G to provide me with the method and
means to accomplish the mission. GG&G has always provided me with
"better than standard" equipment and this instance is just another
demonstration of their dedication to quality.

While this is the "Older version" of the sling attachment point the newer version is just improved and allows for accommodation of H&K's Snap Clip style connectors. With the application we had already chosen, our option already had a quick release, and there was no desire to include yet another fastener. |
| Assembly of this attachment point started with disassembly of the collapsible stock on my M4. | |
| This was actually the first disassembly I had done beyond the normal cleaning and servicing of the rifle. I found out (The hard way) that there is a small spring that holds tension against the rear take down pin. The tension is held by the spacer that was removed to install the attachment point. | |
| With the continued disassembly of the rifle I found out that the collapsible stock tube also held in the buffer spring retaining pin! | |
| Once the stock was disassembled I installed the new attachment point, and reassembled the rifle. The hardest part was getting the buffer spring retaining pin in while screwing in the collapsible stock. I simply used the charging handle to hold the pin down until the tube held it in place once again. | |
| Once the tube was in place, I made sure the rear take down pin spring was in place and then tightened the set nut down and torqued with the proper tool. | |
| Installation was complete! Luckily I didn't lose any parts during disassembly, now I just need to install my MOUT sling! | |
